Any modern engineering systems without electronic parts or subsystems can hardly be found. Some examples of the important subjects are: semiconductor devices, integrated circuits, microprocessors, embedded computer systems, autonomous robots, automatic control systems, speech and image signal processing, wireless communications, optical communications, and radar systems.

Most of the graduate students are involved in industrial projects to get hands-on experience on real-world problems.
Faculty members in the department, together with their graduate students, are also very active in conducting researches. The significant portion of their research is being conducted in close connection with industries and research institutes in nearby Daedok Science Town. The high activity and quality of our research is attested by the annual research fund of more than 400 million Won and consistent publications of the results in prestigious international journals and conferences.
